EXPLORING ART AND CUISINE IN UMBRIA
Meet your travel assistant and travelling companions and diparture for Umbria.We will enter Spello,village situated in the Umbria region,walking through the main ancient entrance to the city, and continue on to the Collegiata di Santa Maria Maggiore, which houses Pinturicchio’s most important masterpiece: the Baglioni Chapel, painted in 1501 as well as many works of art by other famous artists, including Perugino. We will visit the Church of Sant'Andrea, the old Town Hall and its square, the famous Belvedere and the walk will end in the medieval village, which will make the visit to Spello amongst the most memorable of all. The day will continue with a visit to a famous wine cellar to enjoy tasting their wines and the famous Spello oil accompanied by Umbrian dishes.
In the afternoon there will be a guided tour of Foligno, which will begin in the heart of the city, Piazza della Repubblica, a symbol of the ancient civil and religious power, and on to the magnificent historic buildings which surround it, and especially Trinci Palace, with its frescoes by Gentile da Fabriano. The Municipal Art Gallery, the Archaeological Museum, the Cathedral of San Feliciano and the Oratory of Nunziatella, with the spectacular Baptism of Christ by Perugino will conclude the journey in medieval Umbria.
